Snow Day Skin Ritual

There’s something incredibly magical about watching the flakes fall from the comfort of your couch. But while a snow day is a dream for your schedule, it can be a nightmare for your skin! Between the dry heater air inside and the cold wind outside, your skin barrier is working overtime!

Instead of just binge-watching your favorite show, why not give your skin a little "winter recovery" session?

Here is the perfect ritual to keep you glowing while the world turns white.

1. Gently Reset

Let’s ditch any harsh, foaming cleansers. On a snow day, you want to preserve every drop of natural oil you have and also stay hydrated! Use a milky or oil-based cleanser to remove the makeup and debris.

2. Layer!

Think of your skincare like your winter outfit. You wouldn't just wear a parka with nothing underneath, right?

  • The Base: Apply a hydrating serum (look for hyaluronic acid or algae) while your face is still slightly damp.

  • The Insulation: Follow up with a rich, ceramide focused moisturizer to lock that hydration in.

3. Don't Forget…

Snow days usually involve two things: hot cocoa and dry air. Both can lead to chapped lips and "crunchy" hands.

  • Lips: Throw on a thick petroleum-based balm or a lip mask.

  • Hands: Massage in a thick hand cream and, if you’re feeling extra, pop on some cotton gloves for twenty minutes to let it sink in!

4. The "Invisible" Danger: Snow Glare!

If you’re heading out to shovel or play, SPF is non-negotiable. Snow reflects up to 80% of UV radiation, meaning you’re getting hit from above and below.

Don't let a "winter burn" ruin your cozy day off.

Pro-Tip: If you’re running the heater all day, your skin is losing moisture to the air. If you don't have a humidifier, placing a bowl of water near your radiator can help add some much-needed humidity back into the room.

Stay warm, stay hydrated, and enjoy the quiet!
